Drinking tea represents a moment of harmony, respect, purity and tranquillity according to the Japanese principles for the ritual of tea, to which can be added the sense of sharing. Today, we associate the same principles to a hotel, a space of serenity, well-being and sharing.
For potters, the teapot, which contains tea, is assumed as a source of inspiration and creation… and this is present in the collection of the International Biennial of Artistic Ceramics of Aveiro. Deconstructed, with organic forms or maintaining its conventional configuration, the collection has a set of pieces that praise and recall the social act of offering and tasting tea… and what a great place to show it: the Hotels of Aveiro.
The collection of the International Biennial of Artistic Ceramics of Aveiro has its beginning with the Biennial itself, in 1989. It is composed by the winner pieces and by pieces offered by the artists, resulting in a significant collection that grows edition after edition.
As a whole, it reveals the diversity of approaches, techniques, materials and forms, and expresses different geographies and the role of the artist who, through ceramic material, reveals ideas, concepts and creativity.
